About the club

Sochin Karate Club is an adult karate club and welcomes anyone who has an interest in practicing karate in the Canterbury area.

The club focuses on traditional Shotokan Karate where training emphasises physical movement, continual improvement, mental wellbeing and development of the whole person.

The club trains Monday and Thursday every week from 7pm-8.30pm at our new location of Canterbury College (dance studio in the main building) New Dover Road, Canterbury. A further 30min of training for senior grades takes place on club nights from 8.30pm to 9pm. If you are interested in joining, feel free to turn up on a training night at 6.45pm or click the link to book a session through our Eventbrite page. If you have any questions, please email info@sochinkarateclub.co.uk.

There is no fee for joining the club and the first session is free to new members. There is no monthly fee and you just pay when you train. As a member-run club, the fees are only used to pay for rental of the venue and other related costs. The Chair of Sochin Karate Club is Emma Rosen, 2nd Dan, Georges Dussart, 6th Dan is the Chief Instructor.

Note: The club is running a This Girl Can campaign and has subsidised places available for new women and teenage girls joining the club.

Book a Discover Karate session through Eventbrite here.

Whether you are an absolute beginner or have trained in karate in the past and looking to return, the club will support your training aspirations.

How to find us on campus

Simply walk into the main building at Canterbury College and tell reception you want to attend a session at Sochin Karate Club. A member of staff will then lead you to the dance studio we train in. (Note, we are not in the sports centre, we train in the dance studio in the main building).

To further assist, below is a walk-through video.
