Mae wins bronze at UK championships

Action: Mae and Emma in the Parent and Child Kata

Sochin Karate Club had success at the 2025 Shotokan Connect Karate Championships, with Mae Rosen earning a bronze in the Jukuren and the club making the top 10 for the championships.

Results

  • Mae was third in Jukuren
  • Emma, Mae and Simon were 6th in adult team Kata
  • Emma and Mae were 8th in parent and child team Kata
  • Simon was 12th in mixed Kata novice
  • Simon and Emma were 23rd in the pairs team Kata
  • Emma was 14th in Dan grade kata
  • Mae earned sixth place in the Kata for her age group

Mae, age 12, said: “This was the last year I could take part in Jukuren. I was the only girl in my category, so it was great to come 3rd.”

Sochin Karate Club train Monday and Thursday evenings at Kendall Hall, Nunnery Fields, Canterbury. Sessions cost just £6, although currently it is offering subsidized training sessions to women to encourage more to take up the sport.
