College snap-up self-defence places

Staff and students from Canterbury College took part in a self-defence course delivered by Sochin Karate Club.
More than 30 students took part in two sessions this week to learn self-defence and Karate basics. Both sessions were led by Georges Dussart, 6th Dan, who is the club’s Chief Instructor. He was joined on the Thursday session by club members including Club Deputy Chair Mat Phillips and Deputy Chief Instructor Karen Eastlake. The Friday session was supported by Club Chair Emma Rosen.
Sochin Karate Club is now based at Canterbury College, New Dover Road, Canterbury and trains from 7pm to 8.30pm on Monday and Thursday evenings.
Sessions cost £6, however staff and students from Canterbury College receives a discount, and new women members joining also receive a discount thanks to a grant from Active Kent and Medway which aims to encourage more women to take up the sport.
